AI-Native Companies: German Tech Firms Are Reinventing Themselves

Matthias Lübken•ArticleToday, I attended the Cloud Unternehmertag by Scopevisio AG, an ERP provider based out of Bonn. I was curious to see how Mittelstand companies are addressing current challenges and more importantly meet some old friends like Lukas Pustina and Andreas Peters.
I was genuinely, positively surprised how Scopevisio presented themselves. Dr. Jörg Haas presentation was particularly inspiring. Yes, he outlined a vision of how AI will be integrated into Scopevisio's products. But what stood out were his insights how they are transforming the company into an AI-native organization.
Scopevisio began their journey by actively encouraging employees to experiment with AI. The important part: They encouraged open exploration. They provided the resources and didn't set specific use-cases as goals.
Since then, they have moved from experiments toward more consolidated initiatives, several of which they showcased today: documents chat in the product itself, agents in internal software development practices and documentation, and GenAI in their marketing efforts.
My favorite quote was Jörg's call to action: "Waiting is easier. But starting is better."
It didn't land equally well with everyone in the room, and that's exactly why it matters. Organizations need to adopt this mindset. It's great to see how Scopevisio is leading the way.
Their presentation also reminded me of another tech company from the region which is also becoming AI-native. These journeys require courage. Not every employee will embrace the change, and not every customer will follow without hesitation. But standing still is not an option.
AI-native is the future.
